Javed Hashmi of PML-N joins PTI

KARACHI: Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, veteran political leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) announced his decision to join the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) on Saturday, DawnNews reported.
Javed Hashmi announced his decision to join the PTI while leaving for Multan airport to head towards Karachi.
PML-N workers encircled Javed Hashmi’s residence to show their disappointment on the issue. The veteran leader said he had joined the PTI because of similarity in ideology.
Javed Hashmi said the doors of his place would always be open for PML-N workers.
Meanwhile, Tehrik-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan reached Karachi airport to receive Javed Hashmi.

Press conference in Karachi
Addressing at a joint press conference with PTI chief Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Karachi, Javed Hashmi said he had not made the decision to join Imran Khan’s party overnight. I have waited four years to join Imran Khan, he said.
Javed Hashmi has not placed any conditions on joining the PTI, said Imran Khan. This is an ideological revolution that he has joined, he added, welcoming the veteran politician to his party.
Every party first condemns the establishment, but they eventually end up asking for their help, said Hashmi.
“The time has come for the emergence of parties which do not need the establishment’s support,” he added.
Hashmi reaffirmed that he had no conflict with his former party’s leadership, and that he still had great respect for Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Javed Hashmi also announced his daughter Maimoona Hashmi was also resigning from her National Assembly membership.
Sitting alongside Javed Hashmi and Imran, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that a political tsunami had also begun to sweep over Sindh ever since his rally in Ghotki, where the former PPP leader had formally announced his decision to join the PTI.
