If govt was truly democratic, it would have held elections: Imran Khan

QUETTA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that if the government was truly democratic, then it would have held elections by now.
During his address in Quetta, Khan said that had the current government came into power through the people and not the NRO, then elections would have been held.
Quoting Supreme Court’s earlier statement about Premier Yousaf Raza Gilani being a “dishonest person”, Khan said that Gilani is “shameless”.
If Gilani had some shame, then he would have held the elections, but there is a deficit of shame, Khan said.
The PTI chairman added that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif should resign from the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly seats if he thinks that the government is destroying the country.
Predicting that no resignation would be submitted, Khan said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and PML-N are not “ideological parties” and that majority of their members are “opportunists”.
“I predict that they will not resign from the Punjab Assembly, even if they resign from the National Assembly.”
